Natural Resource Management Committees take up FMNR in two GVH areas

EWS Foundation

Two committees have been established, trained and equipped with indigenous tree seeds and polythene tubes to raise seedlings for their own communities.

Through repurposed funds from our partnership with World Vision International, two Group Village Head areas have established and trained Natural Resource Management Committees.

The committees are now functional and implementing Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration within their communities. They have established community tree nurseries and received indigenous tree seeds and polythene tubes, enabling them to raise seedlings for planting in their own areas.

FMNR works with what is already in the ground. Rather than planting seedlings into degraded land, it protects and manages the living stumps and root systems already present, which regenerate far faster and at a fraction of the cost.
