The corbelled latrine initiative trained and certified community members as field masons, who went on to construct 792 household and institutional latrines.
Sanitation coverage does not improve because latrines are delivered. It improves when the skill to build them stays in the village.
Our corbelled latrine construction initiative trained and certified 332 community members as field masons. Those masons have since constructed 792 household and institutional latrines across the district.
The result is threefold: improved sanitation coverage, reduced open defecation, and a group of certified tradespeople who now earn an income from a skill their community needs.
